Topanga songstress and yogini Annmarie Solo is more than just a singer/songwriter.
Solo believes in the power of music to heal. "Music is a sound current, a universal
language, a vibration. Music evokes different states of consciousness, states of being.
When our intention for healing and an open heart meet, anything is possible. The beauty
of a sweet melody or note can be the doorway..
Solo's distinct musical incarnation as a folk-singer is a calling she has felt since her
childhood."Ever since i was a little girl i wrote poetry, trying to make sense of the
world. For me writing is a personal evolution, a way i process. Usually somewhere along
the journey, bits and pieces or sentences stand out and say 'take me'. And so a song is
born." There's something healing about folk music too. "People relate to stories of hope
and redemption, stories of love and love lost. People want to feel something,to connect.
Sometimes you don't know what you feel until you hear somebody name it and then you feel
OK because you realize you're not alone. Songs heal and pass on tradition. Our ancestors
knew it."
